I’m back! and Easy White Chocolate Lime Macadamia Berry Fudge!

Hey everyone!

What a long title! Yes I am alive! Sorry about the absence from my blog, there were a few times I wrote entire posts and never published but now I am back! Feeling a bit refreshed and more inspired! Life got really busy while over in France and sometimes I was just so homesick I didn’t feel like doing much for my blog unfortunately! But then I came home and It’s taken me over a month to get back into it! I had to do a summer school paper and also my family moved into a new house while I was away and have just been so been so busy organising myself. I really enjoy posting on this blog and I am now ready to put my ideas into action. That’s what this year is about, putting things into action. Plans, plans, plans, I have so many makeup products to talk about and recipes to make and share with you. University starts again next week and I can’t wait to have some sort of routine going. Woo!

Today I am sharing with you such an easy yet delicious recipe. A delicious smooth white chocolate fudge with a nice crunch of macadamia nuts, twist of lime and some yummy freezed dried berries. I usually like freeze dried raspberries but there was none at the supermarket so I got strawberries instead, which were just as yum. My work friend actually recommended this to me and recommended adding the berries, which I think help make the fudge so good but are optional if you can’t get freeze dried berries! So thanks to Karrie for this awesome recipe! Seriously though, this fudge is such a delectable treat and this is a no-fail recipe. Enjoy!

395g (one can) Sweetened Condensed Milk
500g White Chocolate
130g Macadamia nuts
(If you can get macadamia white chocolate just use 500gs of that. Whittakers usually has one.)
zest of 2 limes
3/4 c freeze dried raspberries (I just chuck some in without measuring)

1. Line a rectangular tin of some sort (approx. 20x15cm) with baking paper
2. Break up the chocolate into a medium sized saucepan with the sweetened condensed milk and on a medium heat, stir until chocolate is melted and all is combined. Be careful not to burn it at the bottom of the pan.
3. Stir in the lime, macadamias and freeze dried berries.
4. Smooth mixture in the tin.
5. Refrigerate overnight (or at least an hour or so) and cut into squares.

Hope you enjoyed this recipe! It would be an easy recipe to play around with and change up the flavours how you like. Often fudge can be one of those things that can go wrong but this fudge recipe is a no fail. Your friends will be very impressed without knowing how easy it is to make. Yum.

A Weekend Exploring in Switzerland!

Hey everyone!

Something a bit different today! Ben and I went to Switzerland for the weekend and stayed with a family friend of ours who lives in a country town called Montmagny. We had such an amazing time and we both absolutely loved it there. Switzerland is quite like how I imagined. Very green and absolutely beautiful with it’s magnificent mountains and lakes and hills. Resulting in many photos being taken! In the weekend we got to see lot’s of the countryside, the mountains and lakes, eat some swiss food and of course some of the utterly divine swiss chocolate. If only chocolate hauls were thing, I would be very good at that.

We arrived Friday afternoon and left Monday morning so we got a pretty decent two days! On Saturday, our friend Liliane showed us around the countryside and took us to some lovely country towns and places. And on Sunday we got up bright and early to catch the train to go to Zermatt and to see the famous Matterhorn. The Matterhorn is the big white pointy mountain that stands over Zermatt and the peak is 4478m high! It is a big mountain range and in the winter a huge ski resort! I can’t even imagine how fun it would be in the winter. It was a few hours on the train to get there but it was worth it and going through the mountains is a pretty spectacular sight. I couldn’t believe how busy it was too! So many people up early on a Sunday to go walking in the mountains! Zermatt is definitely a must do when visiting Switzerland. And in the winter I bet it is even more beautiful. It was so refreshing going to Switzerland for the weekend and I would never hesitate to go back!

Are you convinced yet? haha. I hope you enjoyed these snaps from our wee getaway! This Friday is our big trip! We are going on a 9 day contiki bus trip from Vienna to Rome! So exciting!

Hope you enjoyed reading about our adventure over to Switzerland! 🙂

Autumn Tag!

autumn tag

Hey everyone!

I’ve seen this tag on so many blogs so I thought I’d join in the fun! Hope you enjoy reading some random little things about me. 🙂

1.  Ok we’re talking coffee’s – what’s your favourite seasonal drink from Starbucks/Costa/Cafe Nero etc?

The Vanilla Chai Lattes from Coffee Culture (a cafe chain in Christchurch). I have bought the actual stuff they use from them many times and I think the brand name is called Blenz or something. It is so good! I also like the Toffee Nut latte and Gingerbread latte that Starbucks have at Christmas time but this isn’t in Autumn for me usually haha.

2.  Accessories – what do you opt for, scarf, boots, gloves?
I love big, cosy, soft scarves, well mostly snoods. And boots always, I love ankle boots. They’re my favourite shoes to wear. And I do need some gloves, I haven’t got any with me and I get the worst cold hands. I like mittens, but then they’re impractical if you need your hands. haha.

3.  Music – what’s your favourite music to listen to during Autumn?
I don’t really change my music to the season to be honest! I listen to whatever I am liking at the time.

4.  Perfume – what’s your favourite scent for this time of year?
I find it very hard to part with my Viktor Rolf Flower Bomb. I got a small bottle of YSL Black Opium yesterday! Which is rather delicious but I’m not sure about the vanilla-ness of it after a while haha.

5.  Candles – what scents will you be burning this season?
Yankee Candle Toasted Marshmallows.. Oh my it smells so delicious!

6.  What do you love most about Autumn?

Usually in Autumn it’s my birthday but lets ignore that for now. I love walking on crunchy leaves, and the pretty colours of the leaves. Arrowtown in New Zealand is really beautiful in Autumn. I love being able to wear cosy clothes again.

7.  Favourite makeup look?

Dark lips and shimmery eyes. You know it.

8. What are you most looking forward to in Autumn?

It’s a very busy Autumn for me. I guess our 9 day trip from Vienna to Rome via Krakow, Budapest, Ljubljana, Venice. And we’re going to Switzerland next weekend, and belgium at some point. And hopefully to see my Aunty in the South of France. In general, I just look forward to wearing warmer clothes and cooler weather. haha 🙂

I hope you enjoyed this! Just something fun to share with you! Thanks for reading and I TAG YOU! What are you looking forward to this Autumn? I’m interested! 🙂

Much love

Mani Monday!

Hey everyone!

Today I just want to share with you my favourite nail polish of the moment, which is Essie Bordeaux. As the name might suggest it is a deep red wine colour and is gorgeous and if you hadn’t noticed one of my favourite colours. Once again very Autumn/Winter appropriate. 😉

I really love the Essie nail polishes, mainly for their wonderfully shaped brushes. They are slightly rounded and flat shaped. It really makes it so much easier to paint my nails without going over the corners. And the nail polish formula itself glides on well, has reasonable longevity and they have some really beautiful colours.

Taking a picture of my nails is such a hard thing to do. haha.

Hope you are all having a wonderful day! Today for me was very busy but I did manage to make a sneaky stop at Sephora when going past hehehehe. Made a few spontaneous purchases. 😉 I really want to expand my Essie collection now. So what Essie colours should I check out next? Whats on your nails at the moment?

Nars Persia Eyeshadow

DSC_0024Hey everyone!

Look at this beautiful red brick coloured eyeshadow! Do I need to say much more? I have never seen any other colours like this and I think it is such a perfect Autumn colour as it reminds me of the autumn leaves. Although it may look intense in the pan at first, it looks gorgeous on the eyes. To begin with, it is an amazing quality eyeshadow as it is very pigmented, blendable and buttery smooth. It is perfect for warming up a look in the outer corner and in the crease and you can achieve a gorgeous red toned eyeshadow look. You can apply it lighter or heavier to achieve different intensities to your preferences so it is more versatile than it looks. This eyeshadow would especially look gorgeous on blue eyes, but it is still really pretty on other coloured eyes too.

As you may have noticed I’m totally on board all the Autumn hype in the blogging world as I am making the most of being in the Northern Hemisphere. I feel like there’s not as much hype when it’s Autumn in March for some reason. So of course you will be seeing more autumn posts coming from me. I am thinking I will include some Spring/Summer looks and things too, for my peeps at home in the South haha. Plus because I’ll be back in December! I miss you New Zealand! 😥

So please tell me your favourite Autumnal products at the moment! Or if you have a blog post about one yourself please link me down below in the comments!  🙂

Thanks for reading!

Hey guys!

A face of the day for you today! It’s pretty simple, but pretty nice. If you hadn’t noticed, I love a dark lipstick. I just feel so good and beautiful and confident when I wear my favourite dark lipsticks. So I make the most of the Autumnal weather and wear them as much as I can. Today I wore MAC Rebel and a matte warm eyeshadow look, with some peachyness and reddy brown and winged liner. I really liked the way it looked today and Ben my boyfriend even commented saying it looked nice today! Excuse the iphone picture and I hope you like it 🙂

Took this photo just now and I realise I could have made the eyeshadow a bit stronger but it always looks darker in real life. Silly. But yeah I like it. 🙂

L’oreal Lumi Magique (the last few drops wah)
Nars Sheer Glow in Siberia
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer Chantilly (I would use MAC prolongwear but it smashed. 😥 This one creases under my eyes. I don’t think you can really see in this picture but it doesn’t work very well under the eyes on me)

Illamasqua blush Disobey
Hourglass Ambient Blush
Highlighter shade from the Urban Decay Flushed Palette in Streak

September Favourites

Hey everyone!

So I got my favourite products out for my September favourites and was laying them out when suddenly tragedy struck! My favourite concealer, MAC pro longwear concealer rolled off onto the ground and SMASHED! Omg so much pain. Disaster. I am so sad. You’ll have to just imagine it in the picture. 😥 This is my first favourites ever so instead of putting everything I have ever bought that is my favourite I have tried to keep it simple. haha. Happy October everybody and here’s what I loved in all of September!

MAC Pro Longwear NC15 – R.I.P.  Beautiful. Light, thin consistency with ultimate coverage and works amazingly under the eyes.

Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette in Streak – Gorgeous and perfect for travelling. Here is a picture to give a better idea of what it looks like! DSC_0034

Kiko Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow 05 – I love putting this all over the lid and on the lower lash line, getting a fluffy blending brush and just blending it all out and this gives a beautiful sparkly taupey smokey eye. This looks really beautiful and is like my way of wearing pretty eyeshadow without much effort in little time. The formula is long lasting and doesn’t budge and easy to work with. LOVE.

Makeup Forever Aqua Creams –  Similar to the kiko eyeshadow stick in the way that they are long lasting and easy to blend and are great for using alone and just blending all over the lid or using as a base. I have 3 colours but I mostly use shades 13 (champagne type colour) and 16 (pink shimmery colour).

L-R Kiko Long lasting Stick Eyeshadow 05, Makeup Forever Aqua Creams – 13, 16, 02.

L’oreal Faux Cils Papillion (false lash flutter?) – Recently got this and I got to say I am really liking it. It has a bizarre shaped brush. It is one the rubbery plastic brushes and has short spikes around then two wing like lines of longer spikes. It just seems to get every lash and has quite good separation and adds some volume too. Especially on the lower lashes it really defines and gets every little lash and it seems to look like I have more lower lashes.

MAC lipstick Diva – Beautiful deep red. To see my FOTD wearing Diva click here!

Tanya Burr Lipglosses  – My first day in London at the beginning of August, I went to superdrug on Oxford St and bought some of Tanya’s lipglosses and nail polishes. All the colours are absolutely stunning. I love these lipglosses because they feel nice, look nice and they are quite opaque colours so you can wear them alone, smell/taste like candy and I love the colours. I should have included her nail polishes in the photo too because I have been wearing them all August/September and they are great too. She is one my absolute favourite youtubers. Another September favourite is Tanya Burr’s Vlogtember, in September I watched every single one Tanya’s vlogs each day. She is one my inspirations and favourite youtubers and I just love watching her videos, she makes me so happy and understands the importance of using your favourite mug for your cup of tea. haha.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets –  check out my review here!

Radial Super Acids x-treme hangover mask – Ignore the hangover part, this mask is a wonderful clay type mask that I find really cleanses my skin and leaves my skin looking much more radiant and my pores much cleaner smoother.

Lindt Excellence Caramel à la pointe de sel  – Do I need to explain? Not really. All I can say is this is my favourite chocolate right now and omg it is so good.

Hope you guys enjoyed my September favourites! Hopefully they will be more exciting next month! What did you love in the month of September?

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet

Hey everyone!

Lip lacquers, liquid lipsticks, lip stains, velvet, matte, glossy, whatever you would like to call it. There has been a lot of liquid type lipsticks released especially in the last year or two. Recently I picked up some of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets and I gotta say they are definitely one of the best if not the best out there.

What I look for in a liquid lipstick, other than the colour of course, is how comfortable it is to wear, how long it lasts, how it reapplies, and how well it lasts/wears off. I find some liquid lipsticks can be very drying and cakey feeling (mainly the matte ones) which can make it uncomfortable or it can make them not wear very well as they start to like crack and crumble off leaving like strange bits on your lips. Yucky.  HELPFUL TIP: Wear a lip balm underneath. For the matte liquid lipsticks in general, this will help make them much nicer to wear.

I love the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets because they have a lightweight smooth texture and are so much more comfortable to wear. They don’t go super dry and feel yuck on your lips, they last well and are also reappliable. I have the colours 05 Olé Flamingo ! and 07 Nud-ist. Both gorgeous colours. Not to mention drugstore price. Amazing.

05 Olé Flamingo! , 07 Nude-ist

I have a few other liquid lipsticks I like too. I really want to try the new Smashbox ones, they look really pretty!

Have you tried these before and what did you think? And also tell me what liquid lipsticks you have found to be really good??

Hope you all enjoyed this post! 🙂

It’s a Brow time

Hey everyone!
Today I am going to share with you my number one brow product! In January this year I got my hands on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in the colour chocolate and I have just repurchased my second pot! I believe I have mastered using it as I have been using it everyday since. For me, my eyebrows are one of the most important parts of my makeup. I feel really weird and slightly naked without filling them in. My eyebrows aren’t really overly sparse or really light but are slightly uneven and sparse especially on one eyebrow and need more definition. Anyway the point is, I can’t live without my pomade.

An untouched Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade. Beautiful.

An untouched Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade. Beautiful.

I believe this product is a does it all kind of product. You can achieve something from a very lightly filled in brow to a strong brow with more intense colour. At first it may seem a little different, a little more difficult than your brow powder or pencil, but once you learn to work with it, it is very versatile and you can work wonders for your eyebrows. It is also super long wearing and the pot lasts you ages! My one started drying up a bit after about 8 months of using it nearly every day, which is really great value.

To begin with, I used to use the anastasia eyebrow brush, which is a still great brush. But I much prefer my favourite brush, which is the Zoeva 322 Brow Line brush. I find it so much easier to use and I can get a much cleaner line with it. I think this is due to the shorter soft bristles and wideness of the brush. I also find it easier to go much more lightly when doing my brows since I don’t want them to be too dark/harsh or have obvious lines in them. I really love this brush! It makes doing brows so much faster and easier and perfect. I got it in a Zoeva Complete Eye Set I bought in April. Zoeva does some fab brushes! Maybe I can review some of my favourite ones someday soon if you are interested let me know. 🙂

There are a lot of brow products out there now, but in all honesty I just can’t move away from my trusty dipbrow pomade. It has become so ritual and easy for me do my brows every day with this product. There is a pretty great range of colours and I really recommend giving the product a go.

Let me know in the comments below what your favourite brow products are? 🙂

Hope you enjoyed this post!
