The Balm Schwing Liquid Eyeliner

Hey friends,

Today I have a review of this eyeliner that I have been loving. I was using the very hyped Kat Von D Tattoo liner but I think I like this one better. Here’s a quick overview.

Why I like it:

  • Matte
  • Opaque and black
  • Easy to use
  • Nice consistency – doesn’t run everywhere and glides on easily and smoothly
  • You can go over the same area and build up the eyeliner (like for example, the kat von d one goes weird and won’t build up, which is annoying if you f* up your eyeliner or get eyeshadow on it and need to go over it.)
  • Lasts and stays black
  • Sets and does not smudge one bit

Here’s some photo’s to demonstrate:

It’s great.

Thanks for reading! Hope this is helpful. What is your go to favourite eyeliner? I feel like I am missing gel liner but I was terrible at remembering to wash my brush. haha. I am sure we can all relate to that!

Green Lipstick: Kat Von D Plan 9

Hey everyone,

I had one request for my mum when she visited the Sydney Sephora, and it was for Kat Von D Studded Kiss in the shade Plan 9. A gorgeous emerald green. I just longed to have a green in my collection and I really think it looks incredibly beautiful.

First of all, the lipstick itself is smooth and creamy, applies evenly and opaque and is easy to put on. Not to mention the studded tube is really edgy and unique.

DSC_0002

This is the first look I’ve created with it.

DSC_0038 DSC_0039

I’ve paired with a simple, neutral cut crease and winged eyeliner. This is my good eyebrow. I was looking at a front on picture and I just hope people out there with symmetrical eyebrows truely appreciate how lucky they are. haha. Oh the struggle.
A really dramatic eye would also look awesome, either colourful or something super dark and smokey.

After playing around a bit, I created a pretty cool black ombre effect using black eyeliner and eyeshadow, and Sugar Pill Lumi pigment in the centre of the lips. Sugar Pill Lumi is a beautiful white glitter pigment with green reflects and looks amazing on top of other cream colours.

DSC_0087

This goes to show that eyeshadow isn’t the only way to add a bit of fun and colour to your makeup. What are your favourite slightly outrageous or unique colours in your makeup collection? I’d love  to know! Especially if it’s something I’m really missing out on.

Thanks for reading,

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks Review

DSC_0118

Hello!

One of my favourite makeup items would definitely be lipstick. When I saw this gorgeous Stila set in Mecca in November I didn’t even hesitate to buy it! Over the holiday season they sold this set of 6 mini liquid lipsticks, but you can buy all of these colours individually in a full size and many other colours too. Liquid lipsticks are everywhere now and from many different brands. Through trying many different brands I have found what I love and don’t love in a liquid lipstick. For me, the Stila stay all day liquid lipsticks have been a winner and I am going to tell you why.

DSC_0144

L-R: caramello, patina, aria, fiery, chianti, como

First of all, a simple criteria for being successful, the colours are gorgeous. I have probably worn Patina the most, as it is such an easy colour to wear on a day-to-day basis, then probably the colour Aria. All of the colours are wonderfully pigmented. Including the more nude shade, Caramello, which I actually quite enjoy. Often nudes wash me out very easily, however this one has just the right amount of colour in it and looks rather nice. I am often complimented when wearing these lipsticks and people want to know what they are, which is a good sign!

Secondly, they apply beautifully, and the texture is so creamy and so smooth and the doe foot applicator is flat, kinda flexy and quite easy to use.

Thirdly, they dry matte but aren’t drying compared to many liquid lipsticks on the market. However, I still like to wear some lip balm with it, and would do this with any matte lipstick. But even when I don’t it’s not uncomfortable.

Fourthly, as suggested in the name they are long lasting. What I have found with many other liquid lipsticks is flaking and crumbling overtime and the Stila liquid lipsticks don’t do this at all, which I love. I also love that if I really need to I can reapply without that super cakey feeling on my lips.

I hope this review was somewhat helpful! If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask in the comments! Also, if you liked this review and would like to see another one on something else please let me know. 🙂

Simple Summer Glow Makeup / favourite summer products

DSC_0097

Hello there!

No my blog isn’t quite abandoned yet, life just got in the way as it does! However, times have changed, I have a degree and am refreshed after a long and amazing summer break. I still have been enjoying watching youtube and reading blogs, but now I am finally returning to mine in hopefully a more organised and dedicated manner haha.

Intro aside, this is a very simple, glowy and fresh makeup look, this has for a long time been my go-to look during the summer time and when on holiday. I just love how fresh and natural this looks and it can last on hot days and because it is lighter it is easy if afternoon swim is at hand (just use waterproof mascara and if you got that Urban Decay setting spray go ahead with that too). I wanted to share some of my favourite tried and true products and would also like to know any of your favourite products during the summer! Please let me know in the comments! 🙂

The Makeup

DSC_0113

I love to use the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in pearl to prime the outside of my face, such as the cheeks and then use the MUFE Smoothing Primer on my nose, next to my nose and middle of my forehead to keep that smooth and shine free throughout the day in the heat. I just opened my second brand new NARS Tinted Moisturiser and I honestly can’t live without this product as it’s so easy and carefree to apply, yet has a nice amount of coverage to even out the skin tone and sits so beautifully on the skin. However, be aware I am quite sure this has NO SPF in it, so be sure to apply one separately. I use the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer under my eyes, around my nose and set these areas with the yellow powder Diffused Light from the Hourglass Ambient Lighting palette (you can buy the powders separately). Now using the stippling brush I bronzed up my face using the bronzer shade from the Hourglass Illume Palette, which gives such a beautiful, natural bronzed glow to the face, I love this product so much and I find this cream bronzer lasts really well. For blush I mixed the two blushes Mood Exposure and Luminous Flush from the Ambient Lighting Palette and the highlighted the cheekbones, nose and brow bone with Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl.  Usually on holiday I would just have one palette such as the hourglass one or Urban Decay Naked Flushed palette and only use the products (bronzer, blush and highlight) from those instead of using so many different things but today I just had it all in front of me. I will also powder under the bronzer and that to clean it up and to ensure all the makeup stays in place there.

For the eyes, it is so simple! I just take whatever bronzer and highlight I have. My favourite to use are the Illamasqua blush in Disobey and Becca Moonstone, which is what I am wearing today. With a fluffy brush blend the bronzer in the crease and outer corner and under the lower lashline. You can be so messy and make the look as smoky and strong as you like. Then I press the highlight colour over the centre of the lid and inner corner, blend the bronzer again and there we are. Today I added The Balm No Money No Honey in the inner corner, which is one of my favourite things ever and you need it in your life. Topped off with my favourite mascara of the moment Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. As I mentioned earlier, it’s better to have a waterproof mascara incase of any swimming action, however I don’t have a favourite waterproof mascara at this time but would love some recommendations!

The way I do my brows has slightly changed recently. I still use the same Zoeva 322 Brow Line brush, however instead of the ABH pomade I have been loving the Chi Chi Brow Pomade and I add the ABH Brow Powder Duo to sharpen up the tail and darken up any gaps that I have. Then very importantly I must set the hairs in place. At the moment, before doing my brows I am enjoying using ABH Brow Primer, which is a wax pencil that really holds my brow hairs in place much better than any brow gel I’ve tried. Afterwards I use whatever is left of my MAC Brow Set however I am sure it’s pretty much empty but it’s good to comb the brows into place anyway. haha. Finishing off with a MAC Skin Hydrating Mist to settle any powder and help give that glow! I always avoid my nose area with this as it will make my makeup slide around and off my face, which is not nice at all. I’d much prefer the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray but I can’t buy it in NZ :'(.

This makeup look could go with any lipstick colour be it a simple gloss or pop of colour. Today I am wearing a current favourite, Bite Beauty Matte Crème Lip Crayon in Tatin.

Here’s a close up so you can see how my skin looks : Even skin tone but you still can see some of my freckles, while looking glowy and fresh faced. 🙂

Thanks for reading and I hope this inspired you or was helpful in some way. If you have any more questions about any of the products please don’t hesitate to leave me a comment! And also please share your favourite summer products as I’d love to know.

Lots of love,

FOTD feat. Melt Cosmetics mini review

Hey everyone!

It’s easter holidays and I have 3 weeks off uni! Phew! I had such a chilled easter weekend. It was so nice! Just sat around home, walked the dogs, made hot cross buns and ate way too much chocolate. Hope you all had a fabulous weekend too!

Today I decided to play around with my melt cosmetics stacks! I have been meaning to post about these eyeshadows since forever. Not too long ago, I went crazy and bought both the Melt cosmetic eyeshadow stacks Lovesick and Dark Matter. I decided to create a burgundy sort of smokey eye. I have seen something similar online which inspired me. I think it turned out ok! I can see room for many improvements but I quite like it anyway. 🙂 Enjoy!

Mini review:

Why I love these eyeshadows:

  • Highly pigmented
  • Smooth texture
  • Blend like a dream
  • Beautiful and unique colours
  • Awesome unique packaging
  • Big eyeshadows
  • Need I say more?

Swatches

Lovesick stack Colours L-R: Promiscuous, Fixated, Amelie, Lovesick. (ignore blotchy-ness its because I had body butter type stuff on my arms)

Dark Matter stack colours L-R: Dark Matter, Enigma, Unseen, Blurr.

Personally, I think I’d use the Lovesick stack more because I don’t wear dark eye makeup very often and because I love the unique and bright colours of the lovesick stack.

Dark matter is perfect for girls who love their smokey eyes. The colours blend together so perfectly, everything you need is in the one stack!

ColourPop!

Hey everyone,

Today I have a very cool review for you! I recently made an order for some of the ColourPop Lippie Stixs and an eyeshadow. Most of you have probably heard about this brand some way or another from other bloggers but if you haven’t, they are an online US brand who sell high quality products and extremely affordably! And don’t test on animals, which is great!

Overall, I AM SO IMPRESSED! All the products I ordered are beautiful and just outstanding! You cannot get products of such amazing quality so inexpensively in New Zealand ever. And side note – there seems to be quite a few good dupes for other high-end lipsticks i.e. MAC. I got 4 gorgeous lippie stix, a lippie pencil and a super shock eyeshadow.

DSC_0082

DSC_0081

I got a Super Shock Shadow in the colour Girly. The ColourPop eyeshadows are the most uniquely textured shadows, they look like a powder in the pot but actually have this gorgeous smooth, creamy, mousse-like texture but set to a powder finish. It is best to apply with your finger, and wow the product just glides on so smoothly and the colour is pigmented. These shadows are definitely nothing like I have tried before. The colour Girly is a shimmery white colour, the shimmer reflects almost a sort of rosey goldy colour, and makes a beautiful all over the lid colour. When I was making my order for all the lippie stix, I still really wanted to see what the texture of the super shock shadows were like so I chose an easy colour I could wear all the time. There is such a wide range of colours on the website. Overall, 10/10 texture and colour and I need more.

DSC_0185

DSC_0177

ColourPop Lumière, Creature, LBB, Dalia

The Lippie stix I got are (In order of the picture), Lumière, Creature, LBB, and Dalia. I also got the matching Lumière Lippie pencil. First of all, I must say I love all these colours and will definitely wear them all. All of these are matte formulas, ColourPop have other formulas I just happened to choose colours that are all matte. For a matte lipstick, I found the texture is extremely smooth and I love how easily they glide on the lips. I didn’t find wearing them very drying either, although I think if your lips are dry it’s always better to apply a lip balm first anyway especially just in the centre. I also found that they stay on well and don’t cake up. I wore the colour Dalia to dinner and it stayed on very well, although I wiped some off because I had spaghetti haha. The lippie stick reapplied really well. And lastly, the lippie stix themselves in the tubes are quite small, which is quite nice because I find I can be more accurate applying them. Especially good for smaller lips.

Lumière is a gorgeous darkish mauvey pink colour. For me it’s a perfect daytime (or nighttime I guess) lip colour, which I can throw on with any outfit. The lippie pencil is the exact same colour and although I don’t know how necessary it is, it is a very nice lip pencil and glides on smoothly.
Creature is a deep burgundy red and does look very similar to Dalia in the picture but Dalia is more is more of a dark warm red. Okay, very similar but I LOVE these types of colours. Dalia is also a very, very good dupe for the well loved MAC lipstick Diva. Both are matte and here’s a wee swatch comparison. I actually think that Dalia is a wee bit creamier than Diva, which is quite nice when it comes to wearing matte lipsticks.

Colour Pop Dalia, MAC Diva.

Colour Pop Dalia, MAC Diva.

LBB is according to ColourPop website, a rich plum wine colour, (sounds much nicer than deep purpley pink colour). It seems to me this is another very close dupe! Very similar to another well loved colour, MAC Rebel. Although, MAC Rebel isn’t matte, the colours are very close. Rebel may be a touch darker or more purpley toned.

DSC_0174

ColourPop LBB, MAC Rebel

Overall, here’s a quick round up!

Why I love the Lippie Stix:

1. Smooth Texture – glides on beautifully

2. Not too drying

3. Lasts long

4. Re-applys well

5. Small lipsticks make it easier to be precise especially on smaller lips

6. Gorgeous colours

7. Affordable

8. Cute and functional packaging

To be honest, I can’t find many faults for these lipsticks especially when they are only $5 USD each. Shipping was about $20 USD and with that still only about $8 each. You do not get anything that affordable in NZ, even a lot of the inexpensive brands are generally at least $20 NZD per lipstick here. And the quality is so up there and probably better than a lot of high end expensive brands. And that’s definitely saying something.. So check out the website ColourPop if you wish. 🙂

Heres a wee bonus FOTD with ColourPop Supershock shadow Girly and Lippie Stix Dalia.

DSC_0214

Basically, I’m obsessed. I would love to add some more to my collection! Especially the eyeshadows but I found there are so many colours to choose from! So if you have tried ColourPop, I’d love some recommendations! So comment down below your thoughts, favourites and if you have done a post on them, link me because I’d love to see what you got!

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed and this was somewhat helpful! This was such a long post so you’ve done well to make it this far!

Love,

Anna 🙂 xo

Autumn Tag!

autumn tag

Hey everyone!

I’ve seen this tag on so many blogs so I thought I’d join in the fun! Hope you enjoy reading some random little things about me. 🙂

1.  Ok we’re talking coffee’s – what’s your favourite seasonal drink from Starbucks/Costa/Cafe Nero etc?

The Vanilla Chai Lattes from Coffee Culture (a cafe chain in Christchurch). I have bought the actual stuff they use from them many times and I think the brand name is called Blenz or something. It is so good! I also like the Toffee Nut latte and Gingerbread latte that Starbucks have at Christmas time but this isn’t in Autumn for me usually haha.

2.  Accessories – what do you opt for, scarf, boots, gloves?
I love big, cosy, soft scarves, well mostly snoods. And boots always, I love ankle boots. They’re my favourite shoes to wear. And I do need some gloves, I haven’t got any with me and I get the worst cold hands. I like mittens, but then they’re impractical if you need your hands. haha.

3.  Music – what’s your favourite music to listen to during Autumn?
I don’t really change my music to the season to be honest! I listen to whatever I am liking at the time.

4.  Perfume – what’s your favourite scent for this time of year?
I find it very hard to part with my Viktor Rolf Flower Bomb. I got a small bottle of YSL Black Opium yesterday! Which is rather delicious but I’m not sure about the vanilla-ness of it after a while haha.

5.  Candles – what scents will you be burning this season?
Yankee Candle Toasted Marshmallows.. Oh my it smells so delicious!

6.  What do you love most about Autumn?

Usually in Autumn it’s my birthday but lets ignore that for now. I love walking on crunchy leaves, and the pretty colours of the leaves. Arrowtown in New Zealand is really beautiful in Autumn. I love being able to wear cosy clothes again.

7.  Favourite makeup look?

Dark lips and shimmery eyes. You know it.

8. What are you most looking forward to in Autumn?

It’s a very busy Autumn for me. I guess our 9 day trip from Vienna to Rome via Krakow, Budapest, Ljubljana, Venice. And we’re going to Switzerland next weekend, and belgium at some point. And hopefully to see my Aunty in the South of France. In general, I just look forward to wearing warmer clothes and cooler weather. haha 🙂

I hope you enjoyed this! Just something fun to share with you! Thanks for reading and I TAG YOU! What are you looking forward to this Autumn? I’m interested! 🙂

Much love

Anna xo

Mani Monday!

Hey everyone!

Today I just want to share with you my favourite nail polish of the moment, which is Essie Bordeaux. As the name might suggest it is a deep red wine colour and is gorgeous and if you hadn’t noticed one of my favourite colours. Once again very Autumn/Winter appropriate. 😉

I really love the Essie nail polishes, mainly for their wonderfully shaped brushes. They are slightly rounded and flat shaped. It really makes it so much easier to paint my nails without going over the corners. And the nail polish formula itself glides on well, has reasonable longevity and they have some really beautiful colours.

DSC_0004 DSC_0022

Taking a picture of my nails is such a hard thing to do. haha.

Hope you are all having a wonderful day! Today for me was very busy but I did manage to make a sneaky stop at Sephora when going past hehehehe. Made a few spontaneous purchases. 😉 I really want to expand my Essie collection now. So what Essie colours should I check out next? Whats on your nails at the moment?

Love

Anna xo

Nars Persia Eyeshadow

DSC_0024Hey everyone!

Look at this beautiful red brick coloured eyeshadow! Do I need to say much more? I have never seen any other colours like this and I think it is such a perfect Autumn colour as it reminds me of the autumn leaves. Although it may look intense in the pan at first, it looks gorgeous on the eyes. To begin with, it is an amazing quality eyeshadow as it is very pigmented, blendable and buttery smooth. It is perfect for warming up a look in the outer corner and in the crease and you can achieve a gorgeous red toned eyeshadow look. You can apply it lighter or heavier to achieve different intensities to your preferences so it is more versatile than it looks. This eyeshadow would especially look gorgeous on blue eyes, but it is still really pretty on other coloured eyes too.

DSC_0021

DSC_0038

As you may have noticed I’m totally on board all the Autumn hype in the blogging world as I am making the most of being in the Northern Hemisphere. I feel like there’s not as much hype when it’s Autumn in March for some reason. So of course you will be seeing more autumn posts coming from me. I am thinking I will include some Spring/Summer looks and things too, for my peeps at home in the South haha. Plus because I’ll be back in December! I miss you New Zealand! 😥

So please tell me your favourite Autumnal products at the moment! Or if you have a blog post about one yourself please link me down below in the comments!  🙂

Thanks for reading!

FOTD

Hey guys!

A face of the day for you today! It’s pretty simple, but pretty nice. If you hadn’t noticed, I love a dark lipstick. I just feel so good and beautiful and confident when I wear my favourite dark lipsticks. So I make the most of the Autumnal weather and wear them as much as I can. Today I wore MAC Rebel and a matte warm eyeshadow look, with some peachyness and reddy brown and winged liner. I really liked the way it looked today and Ben my boyfriend even commented saying it looked nice today! Excuse the iphone picture and I hope you like it 🙂
