Hauling it up in France

Hey everyone!

As you may or may not know, I arrived in France about 3 weeks ago. I am here for 4 months on a university exchange in the city of Nantes! I have been spending a lot of time exploring the city and trying to settle in, and of course checking out the french sephora and other makeup! So I decided to do a haul! As well as Sephora, I also checked out Monoprix, which is kinda of like a supermarket but also has clothes and beauty and home stuff too.. maybe a hypermarket but it had brands like L’oreal, Bourjois, Rimmel, Revlon etc. In New Zealand we don’t have a huge variety of brands, and also the “drugstore” brands like L’oreal are actually rather expensive, so I was really excited to check out the drugstore brands. I must say the Sephora I went to didn’t have all the brands I expected but you know I have 4 months to check out all the other sephoras! I hope you enjoy this haul! I am not showing off, I just love makeup and sharing the excitement and fun of getting new and very different products! I find it really cool and interesting looking at other peoples hauls especially from other countries with other brands we don’t necessarily have at home!  If you have any recommendations please let me know in the comments! As I don’t know these brands very well. Hope you enjoy. 🙂

From Sephora

I am not gonna lie, I have already had a little bit of a play with some of the shadows and the Urban Decay Naked Flushed palette in Streak! hehe. I couldn’t resist. I gotta say, I am so so so impressed with the flushed palette! It is absolutely stunning. Also from Urban Decay I got the Eden Eyeshadow Primer Potion to try out and a Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Spandex which is a really pretty sparkly dark blue eyeliner and for some reason the colour and sparkles just stood out to me.

I had a bit of fun at the Make Up Forever counter! Gabriella from velvetgh0sts always raves about the Aqua Creme Shadows and has me convinced so I got the colours 13, 16 and 02. Also from Make up For ever is the the new Make up Forever Artist Shadows. For some reason I was really drawn to these beautiful, shimmery sunset colours of orange and pink and peach. I realise they say blush on them as well as eye shadow but I think they are a bit shimmery/sparkly for blush. The other grey looking shadow is a beautiful red-toned but greyish brown with blue reflects in it. Stunning colours.

Last of all from Sephora, two beautiful liquid lipsticks by Sephora. The first one in the nice black tube is called Outrageous Rouge Extreme Liquid Lipstick in the colour 06. It is a bright blue-based red and is a very opaque, very thick formula. I can’t wait to wear it! Secondly, is Sephora Cream Lip Stain in colour 07 which is an opaque dark plum purple that has a metallic-like sheen to it. Ah it’s beautiful! Perfect for winter (or any season for that matter), but goes well with the dark lip trend that comes every autumn. This colour seems particularly unique and I haven’t seen anything else like it. Both these colours a matte. And I also got one of the nail buffing/filing squares!

From Monoprix

From Bourjois I got the Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation in 51 Vanille Clair, which I really like the feel of and I have had one small wear of and I was really impressed but before I review it I want to have a decent go using it. The Colour Boost glossy finish lipstick in 04 Peach on the Beach is a really pretty peachy colour as the name suggests, perfect for all my homies going into spring/summer right now! Lip Liner in 09 Plum it up! I wanted this to go with some of my dark lipsticks or even alone! As soon as someone says Autumn we know everyone gets out their plum and dark lipsticks. And lastly I got another Rouge Edition Velvet in 07 Nude-ist, I already had picked one of these up while in the UK and really liked it so I got another colour! This colour is a dark pink nude and I really like it as I am not a big nude person and most nudes wash me out but this one looks really nice. A nude like your lips but darker and something is there. Wow I am so descriptive. I could just say Kylie Jenner but not so brown..

From L’oreal I was going to try some foundations but I couldn’t find a matching colour fair enough for me.. BUT I have never tried a mascara by L’oreal and so I have the Faux Cils Papillion Midnight Black Mascara aka. Butterfly Mascara in Extra Black. I am actually wearing it today and I really like it! It is a great mascara for adding length and separation to the lashes. Eyeshadow in Cameleon 601 is a shimmery purpley white, which I think will look really pretty all over the lid or as an inner corner highlight.

And lastly, just simply a strengthening nail polish base from Essie. Nothing overly thrilling but something I really needed for my sad weak nails.

I hope you enjoyed this haul! If you want to know anymore about any of the products or a more detailed review just let me know in the comments and I can try answer anything for you! It is so much fun shopping in another country! Although, sometimes it is difficult because I can’t understand the french so I am not entirely sure what I am buying! haha!

I am really enjoying getting into blogging! I have so many ideas for reviews, makeup, food, travel going around my head to post on here! So please subscribe on wordpress, bloglovin’, email or twitter or whatever you like if you want to see more from me. 🙂

Love
